“Las parasomnias son una categoría de trastornos del sueño que consisten en movimientos, comportamientos, emociones y percepciones extrañas que ocurren durante el transcurso del sueño, sin llegar a provocar necesariamente el despertar de la persona o su incapacidad para dormir”.
Parasonmia refleja la idea del refugio, la evasión de todo lo que no podemos evitar en nuestra realidad cotidiana. Es como una madriguera donde permanecen latentes los deseos más profundos y misteriosos, una regresión a lo primario, un camino insondable hacia lo que no podemos palpar con nuestras manos pero si con nuestra mente. Esta serie pretende evocar esos instantes mágicos en los que el subconsciente es capaz de reproducir las experiencias más insólitas y descabelladas, aquellas que son imposibles de experimentar despierto. Como continuación de HYPNOPOMPIC, Rocío Montoya vuelve a explorar los estados de ánimo a través de experiencias estéticas, la frágil cortina de humo que separa la realidad de la ficción y, una vez más, la sinergia entre mujer y naturaleza, como oda a la belleza y a la fragilidad efímera del ser humano.
El proyecto está compuesto de cinco obras en papel, cada pieza ha sido elaborada a partir de fotografías realizadas por la artista, intervenidas con la técnica del collage manual. Los elementos añadidos son ilustraciones florales personales y recortes de viejas revistas de naturaleza.

Parasonmia reflects the idea of shelter, evasion of all we can not avoid in our daily reality. It’s like a burrow where it remains latent the most mysterious and deepest desires, a regression to the primary, an unfathomable way to what can not be felt with our hands but with our mind.
This series aims to evoke those magical moments when the subconscious is capable of playing the most unusual and crazy experiences, those that are impossible to feel awake. As a continuation to “HYPNOPOMPIC” series, Rocio Montoya returns to exploring the moods through aesthetic experiences, the fragile smokescreen that separates fact from fiction and, once again, the synergy between women and nature, as an ode to beauty and ephemeral fragility of human beings.
The project consists of five artworks on paper, each piece has been made from photographs taken by the artist, intervened with the technique of handmade collage. The additions are personal floral illustrations and clippings from old nature magazine.
